Doug Allen works with the Brigham Young University (BYU) Arts Partnership in providing professional development for teachers in a university-public school partnership. Before working with the BYU Partnership Doug was an adjunct professor teaching art courses in the evenings at BYU Salt Lake Center and his day job, as the Fine Arts Consultant (K-12) for Jordan School District. Doug also taught AP* Studio Art and Design classes and recently, Doug has been working in Hawaii with the Hawaii Department of Education implementing National Core Arts Standards.
Doug was the recipient of the Utah State Sorenson Legacy Award for Arts Administration in 2020 and received the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award from the Utah Art Education Association in 2021.
Doug loves teaching and taught for 3 years in Melbourne, Australia before returning to Utah. Doug has been working with the College Board, both as an Exam Reader and a Consultant, and has facilitated workshops and institutes nationally. Doug is excellent at providing enriching opportunities for teachers that strengthen their ability to help student performance. Besides being an educator, Doug is also an accomplished artist and has won Painting Competitions and had commissions for his paintings. He, and his students have received numerous awards in local, state, and national exhibits.
