Dr. Marisa Pérez-Bernardo is an Associate Professor at the University of Dallas. She received her Ph.D. in Spanish from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She holds an A.B.D. in English Philology from the University of Valladolid, an M.A. in Specialized Translation from the University of Córdoba, an M.A. in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca, an M.A. in Spanish and TESOL from West Virginia University, a B.A. in English Philology from the University of Valladolid, and a Certificate in Translation from the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Pérez-Bernardo serves as a consultant for the College Board in Pre-AP World Languages and Cultures, AP Spanish Language, and AP Spanish Literature. She is also a Spanish Language and Culture reviewer for the AP Course Audit, providing AP Spanish teachers and administrators with clear curricular and resource guidelines and determining whether submitted syllabi meet all AP program requirements.
Additionally, she served as an expert advisor for the Texas State Board of Education during the 2013–2014 academic year, reviewing and helping develop the Languages Other Than English (LOTE) curriculum. Presently, Dr. Pérez-Bernardo serves on the Fulbright National Screening Committee for English Language Teaching Assistantships in Mexico and the Boren Scholarships in Latin America
