Ben has taught social studies for twenty-eight years in a variety of public-school settings, starting as a sixth-grade teacher in an urban school in Denver in 1992. For the last seventeen years, Ben has taught AP® U.S. Government and Politics and AP® Comparative Government and Politics.
In addition to his teaching duties, Ben has served as a reader, table leader, and question leader at the AP® U.S. Government and Politics reading for sixteen years.
He also served on the AP® U.S. Government and Politics test development committee for six years, including two as the co-chair of the committee. In 2018, Ben co-authored several teacher support materials for the AP U.S. Government textbook, Stories of a Nation.
