Summary of the Four-Day Experience
This four-day AP Summer Institute, part of the College Board’s AP Project Based Learning (PBL) Series, provides participants with over 30 hours of intensive, content-rich training on the AP Statistics course and exam description (CED). The program is designed to help teachers implement an engaging and student-centered, project-based instructional approach in their classrooms.
Through interactive workshops and modeling of PBL practices, attendees will:
- Identify how AP content and skills (exploring data, sampling, probability, and inference) are developed within and across course projects.
- Explore how to use AP resources such as the AP Question Bank, progress checks, and instructional planning reports to inform their teaching and assessment.
- Apply high-quality PBL design elements and teaching practices using provided project implementation guides.
- Practice applying scoring guidelines from recent AP exams to student work samples.
- Develop a concrete course plan for immediate implementation in their classrooms the following school year.
This series is a one-year program that includes follow-up online support sessions during the academic year to ensure successful implementation.
