My name is Scott Meikle and I am excited to be your College Board facilitator for this session. I have been a teacher in the Clark County School District (Las Vegas, NV) for the past 20 years. For the past 15 years, I have taught AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, and AP Economics (both Micro and Macro). In addition to those classes, I have also served as an AP reader, district AP PLC Leader, and have taught PDE classes focused on Pre-AP rigor for my school district.
I am a big believer in the AP program, especially for the opportunities it provides for students who are traditionally overlooked, are attempting to be first generation college students, are attempting to earn financial assistance through a stronger transcript, or students who simply want to challenge themselves. I also enjoy working with other teachers as there is always great conversation with an exchange of new ideas. Working within small groups where we all have a common goal is one of the best ways to improve as teachers and to serve our students and their specific needs.
I look forward to working with you and hope you find our sessions enjoyable, helpful, and productive.
Why attend an in-person APSI? Meaningful discussions and collaborations with colleagues. AP Economics teachers collaborate on a GDP module.
