Amanda L. Jones, J.D., is a National Board Certified secondary educator with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where she has taught since 2018 and specializes in AP U.S. Government and Politics. She serves as an AP Reader for AP U.S. Government and Politics (College Board), a mock trial coach, and an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina Lancaster and USC Sumter, teaching Introduction to American National Government, Constitutional Law, and Public Administration to undergraduate and dual-enrolled students.
Jones holds a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, an M.A. in Political Science, and a Graduate Teaching Certificate from UNC Charlotte. Her prior experience as a university instructor at the University of South Carolina and Central Piedmont Community College informs her emphasis on vertically aligned, college-level rigor in secondary civic education. Trained in Project-Based Learning through PBL Works and published in the Justice System Journal, she develops inquiry-driven units, simulations, mock trials, and policy labs that integrate constitutional analysis, civic engagement, and authentic assessment. As a PBL APSI consultant, she supports teachers in designing rigorous, student-centered civic projects that make complex political concepts accessible and meaningful. She resides in  Charlotte, North Carolina, with her family and enjoys spending time at the beach whenever possible, a balance that grounds her work in both community and reflection.
